Bozel is the perfect base for a walking, mountain biking or road biking holiday in the alps, but if that is not enough for you there are plenty more activities to keep you busy. Here are some more details about the activities available.
Mountain Biking
From Courchevel 1850 you can ride 256km of marked mountain bike trails and single track descents with 17 downhill circuits which you can access with ski lifts and 13 tours. You can also gain access to the rest of the Three Valleys. On Tuesdays and Thursdays lifts are open to allow a 100km tour of the whole of The Three Valleys—you can choose how much (or little!) uphill riding you want to tackle. For cross country enthusiasts you can access miles of single track and other trails around Bozel, Champagny en Vanoise and Pralongnan la Vanoise.
Hiking and walking
Bozel is a great base for a walking holiday. Whichever direction you choose to head there are well marked trails that lead directly from the town or you can set off after a short drive to get a head start up in to the mountains. Highlights include the Dent du Villard which dominates the South side of the town, the picturesque lac de la Rosière and Mont Jovet with stunning views across to Courchevel and the unspoilt Vanoise National Park, the largest national park in France. There are breathtaking views to be had of Mont Blanc, the Grand Bec and across the Three Valleys. Please ask us for walking route ideas so we can tell you some of our favourite walks in the area and walking cards are available in the chalet.
Road Biking
From Bozel you can access some of the classic climbs of the alpine stages of the Tour de France and some other lesser known rides and climbs that are equally as challenging and beautiful. To name but a few there is the 18km, 1012m climb to the Courchevel Altiport, a 26km, 1600m climb to the Col de La Madeleine and a little further a field you can try out the famous 13km, 21 hairpin climb to Alpe D’Huez. For a more relaxed day you can follow the cycle path around Lake Annecy. For more ideas please ask us—there are too many interesting routes around the area to list but we can make suggestions or give you a sample list of rides that will keep you pedalling and climbing for any length of holiday.
Via Ferrata
Via ferrata allows adventurous walkers to cross over in to the world of climbers and experience the thrill of climbing high up in the mountains.. Using a series of metal rungs, hand holds and high tension wires you follow a set route up the mountain side. You are attached to a safety line at all times by shock absorbing slings and a harness. There are several via ferrata in the area ranging from beginner routes like the one above the beautiful lac de la Rosière and advanced routes that require a good head for heights like the Croix de Verdons in Courchevel, the highest Via Ferrata in France.
Other Activities include parapenting, via ferrata, golf, white water sports on the Isere river or you can spend the day relaxing on the man made beach by the swimming lake in Bozel itself. There really is something for everyone and more details can be provided when you book.
Massage
If feel a need for a bit of relaxation and pampering you can book a massage with your host Naomi who is qualified in holistic, sports and deep tissue, and hot stone massage.
